  • BAZERKO- A condition that is usually seen and heard from a golfer that has completely lost it. ie....a golfer hits a shot into the bushes or kuhiwes and has an uncontrollable swearing fit which includes all the nasty words known to man, along with some buried clubs.   • CADDIE- The most thankless job on earth unless you are Stevie. (Tiger's caddie) Sometimes called the whipping boy since that's what you'll be getting if your player is playing poorly.   • DEEP- referring to a golfer or golf shot that is extremely far with respect to distance. 808Golf.com, Honolulu, HI

  • DICK-OUT- When a male golfer hits a drive so poorly that it doesn't pass the ladies' tee, he is by custom expected to play the hole with is manhood hanging out of the fly of his pants. Chaz, 52, Portland, Maine, Male

  • GREG NORMAN SPECIAL- A ball that hits the green but backspins a great deal. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • GRIND, GRINDING, GRIND IT OUT- referring to a golfers round in which he/she is having problems/struggling with their swing, timing, putting, driving, etc. and to never give up.   • Hands of a Sturgeon- Instead of having the delicate and supple hands of a Surgeon (Doctor) - player is said to have the hands of a sturgeon (fish) indicating a lack of touch - Used mostly on the putting surface. TJ, 49,  Honolulu, HI,  Male

  • HANGMAN- Scoring a 9 on a hole. "9" looks like a man hanging on a noose. Dave, 50, Honolulu, HI, Male

  • HAPPY-SAD-HAPPY-SAD- a four hole stretch consisting of the following: birdie, bogey, birdie, bogey. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • HAPPY TALK- This is a meaningless and insincere conversation coming from a golfer in a tournament that just played an awesome round. He is usually found hanging nearby a scoreboard and is asking other players the question...."what you shot?" He then waits patiently for the person to ask him the same question.   • HAPUPU- To improve one's lie in the fairway by carefully placing the ball on a high piece of grass....resembles a teed position. This is used only during winter rules. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • I THOUGHT YOU HAD'EM- This slang is almost always heard when playing a partner type event...this involves a putt that lips out on the high side. If said by the opponents, they usually have a brown stain on their underwear. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • KAIPO - This slang is used to describe a golfer who just hit a really, really long drive. It must be a freaky long drive.   • KAKAROACH - a low running chip shot used to crawl onto the green. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • KU HI WES - sometimes referred to a thick, tree lined area off to the side of a fairway. Errant tees shots usually find a home there. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • LASHKA- A huge deep divot....sometimes found on an immaculate teeing ground that looks really bad. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • LAUREL & HARDY- Scoring a 10 on a hole. One skinny guy and one fat guy look like a "10" standing next to each other. Dave, 50, Honolulu, HI, Male

  • Linda Ronstadt- When you drive it past someone you say that's a Linda Ronstadt because I "Blue Bayou". (Blue Bayou is a famous Linda Ronstadt song). Tom, 36, male, Kapolei, HI

  • MA-KE - a term commonly used when a golfer is stymied by an object. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • MA-KE CAT - A very strong and distinctive odor usually found in a men's bathroom at a golf course. It is always evident at golf tournaments in the early morning. The scent is similar to that of a deceased cat. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • MAHALO- a response given to a compliment such as nice putt or nice shot. Exclusively used by a talented golfer from Hilo. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • MONGOOSE- A very low running golf shot, similar to the kakaroach, but from a longer distance away with a lot of force. Murdie, 45,  Hilo, HI,  Male

  • MULLIGAN- A second chance at teeing off without losing a stroke if the first one was a bad shot.

  • RIGHT-IN-  A curse meant for your opponent to miss their putt. Ona, 44,  Kahului, HI,  Female

  • TD SCOOP- When a person putts a short putt reaches down and scoops the ball just as it is either going into the hole or not.
