Sunday, February 11, 2001 - Hidemichi Tanaka eagled the par 5, 17th hole to win the 2001 Hawaii Pearl Open by one shot over Hilo's Gregory Meyer.  He finished the final round with an 8-under par 64, for a 54-hole total of 15-under par score of 201.  Meyer missed two 6-footers on the final two holes to finish at 65, and 202.

Second round leader, Hilo's Kevin Hayashi, struggled to a 74-205 and 3rd place. Kaneohe's Dean Wilson (70) along with Japan PGA golfers, Dinesh Chand (70) and Jon Duck Kim (66) tied for fourth at 10-under par 206.

            Tanaka, a two-time Japan Open champion and among last year's top Japan PGA money list, is scheduled to play in two PGA Tour events before returning home to play on the JPGA tour.
